Four-car KL monorail trains back on track soon

KL Monorail's four-car trains, which have been grounded since May for safety enhancements, will be returning to service soon.

In a statement Tuesday, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said that five four-car monorail train sets would be placed back on service in stages by year-end.

"Works to further enhance the safety features of the trains are ongoing. We are working hard to have the works completed as soon as possible, but strictly according to the work details highlighted.

"As the operator of the KL Monorail Line, Rapid Rail would like to express our sincere apologies to our customers for the inconvenience caused.

"We had no choice but to ground them temporarily in the interest of public safety," Zohari said.

In the absence of the four-car train sets, Zohari said Rapid Rail has been deploying shuttle buses throughout the alignment to complement the operations of the two-car trains.

"We now have six sets of two-car trains in operation," he said, adding that train frequency is between eight and 15 minutes.

市面上的公共交通付费系统五花八门，不同付费方式可享不同等的折扣，民众纷纷为之混淆。

民众一致赞同落实综合付费系统，以拥有更便捷的乘车服务。

陆路公共交通委员会（SPAD）宣布，该会正研究一个公共交通付费系统（ICPS），并将和“一触即通卡”（Touch’n Go）合作，推出公共交通付费卡。

预计2018年落实的综合付费系统，陆路公共交通委员会将统一不同的公共交通收费系统，包括RapidKL收费，乘客也可使用新的提款卡或扣账卡在各个公共交通入口处付费，包括泊车转搭站。

The monorail service between Hang Tuah and Jalan Imbi stations have resumed after consultants from City Hall and Syarikat Prasarana Negara gave it the nod, said Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib during a buka puasa event with members of Association of Public Housing Residents in Bandar Baru Sentul, here on Monday.

"The consultants have arrived at a conclusion that pillars supporting the tracks are strong and the track is completely safe for the monorail to resume its services," said Phesal.

On the road closure here, he said although a slip road had been opened to ease traffic congestion in the area, nevertheless the stretches between Jalan Hang Tuah to Jalan Imbi and Jalan Imbi to Jalan Hang Tuah remain closed.

Phesal said remedial works at the cave-in site at the Jalan Imbi-Jalan Pudu intersection would continue during the Hari Raya holidays and are expected to be completed by end of September.
