1,000 free lanterns at parade
THE 1Malaysia Lantern Tourism Festival is set to take place from Sept 14 to 19 with a line up of interesting cultural programmes and performances for the whole family.
The highlight of the festive will be the lantern parade, at 8.30pm on Sept 14.
The starting point is at the Petaling Street archway in Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. The procession will then proceed to Jalan Sultan, Jalan Hang Lekir and Jalan Petaling before going back to Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock to come to a stop at the entrance of Central Market.
Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall president Datuk Liew Kon Seng said the 1Malaysia Lantern Tourism Festival 2013 flyers and pamphlets were redeemable for free lanterns at a redemption counter at the Petaling Street archway at 7.30pm, right before the start of the parade.
"It will be on a first-come, first-served basis as there are only 1,000 free lanterns to be given out on that day," said Liew.
He said the event flyers and pamphlets were being mass distributed at convenience stores, hotels and tourism centres and spots for maximum exposure.
At Central Market, there will also be cultural performances including lion and dragon dances, singing and dance performances, acrobatic and mask changing performances until 11pm.
The official launch is expected to take place around 9.30pm, after the lantern parade.
About 50 handmade giant lanterns, 30 of which are from Taiwan, will be on display from Sept 15 to 19, from 7pm to 10pm.
The giants lanterns are provided by Taiwan Visitors Association (Kuala Lumpur), Fo Guang Shan Malaysia and Malaysia Lantern Art Association.
Cultural dance performances, a Chinese martial arts equipment exhibition, mini lantern parade and lantern making workshop will also be held throughout the festival.
The fifth lantern festival is organised by the Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall in collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Ministry, Visit Malaysia Year 2014, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Central Market, City Hall, Kuala Lumpur Hawkers and Petty Traders Association, Fo Guan Shan Malaysia, Malaysia Lantern Art Association, Universiti Putra Malaysia Zhong Hua Arts and Cultural Association, and Taiwan Visitors Association (Kuala Lumpur).

长途巴士业者要求车票调涨30%未有定案又遇柴油涨价，陆路公共交通委员会（SPAD）宣布，考虑到燃油涨价营运成本将提高，允许长途巴士继续征收10%的附加费，直到当局宣布新收费为止。
附加费原订今天停收
长途巴士业者获准在开斋节期间征收10%的附加费措施，原定于明天结束。该委员会这项宣布，形同巴士车资变相涨价。
泛马巴士业者公会是在政府宣布燃油涨价后，致函陆路公共交通委员会要求延长征收10%附加费措施。
该委员会之前是在6月中旬宣布，同意让巴士业者在开斋节期间收取长途快车票10%附加费，有效期限从7月8日至9月8日为止，包括全部现有的长途快车班次及因应佳节需求而推出的额外班车。
柴油上一次调涨零售价，是2010年12月4日。政府是在本月3日调涨RON95汽油和柴油每公升零售价20仙，使RON95每公升售价涨为2令吉10仙，而柴油是2令吉。
调涨车票年底决定
这也是近年来，政府首次因为柴油价格上涨，允许长途巴士业者延长原本只限佳节期间征收车票附加费的措施。
泛马巴士业者协会（PMBOA）原本是要求长途快车票涨价30%，不过陆路公共交通委员会拒绝，只允许在佳节期间给予两个月征收10%附加费，而调涨车票事宜将在年底有决定。

小镇风味美食老饕最爱 外来客带旺龙溪餐饮业
下午3时，依旧可见不少食客在用餐。
龙溪小镇【Dengkil】美食佳，乡味浓，近年来当地餐饮业者超过50%的生意额靠外来食客带动与发展。
成为食客找吃天堂
龙溪靠近布城与赛城，加上近几年来，道路的改善，以致距离不再是问题，当地小镇风味美食，如海南包、招牌面、招牌虾、招牌鱼及河虾等，都是老饕最爱，成为食客找吃的天堂。
尤其是布城与赛城的华裔上班族或学生，因当地没有中餐馆，特在下班时段，与同事驱车到当地用餐，以致午休时段，可见各饭店、茶室，坐满了不少穿戴整齐的上班族。
各茶室人潮拥挤
甚至也有印裔特到该村用餐，各大茶室或饭店人潮拥挤，店家在厨房与大厅忙进忙出。
店前或邻近，也停泊了不少轿车。
不少受访业者指出，近几年来，随着布城与赛城大事发展，带动了当地餐饮业者，目前村内餐饮业生意在午休时段，全靠外来食客带动。
他们强调，有超过50至70%的生意额都靠外来客带动，尤其是周未、日或公假，有更多远处食客带同亲友到来享美食，所以也会特别多准备食材。

Genting theme park to close
Theme park to close
Making way for the new Twentieth Century Fox Theme Park scheduled for 2016, the Genting Outdoor Theme Park will be closing its doors from Sunday for two years.
While the Outdoor Theme Park is closed, all rides and attractions at the First World Indoor Theme Park will remain open.
To commemorate the occasion and to also celebrate the National Day, there will be activities such as cheerleading and dance performances from 10pm. Entrance is free from 7pm to midnight on Sunday. Pay per ride is also available from 7pm for customers to enjoy the rides one more time before its closure.
As the Genting Outdoor Theme Park will be closed, there will not be any fireworks display that evening.

Flying fox thrill at Bukit Tinggi
The Adventure Park at Colmar Tropicale has the longest flying fox line in Southeast Asia at 530 metres.
IF you are a thrill-seeker, make your way to the Adventure Park at Colmar Tropicale and try out their longest flying fox single zip-line in Southeast Asia.
With a length of 530 metres, the Adventure Park made an entry into the Malaysia Book of Records recently.
Malaysia Book of Records chief executive officer Aziz Hamdan presented the certificate to Berjaya Hills Bhd executive director Datuk Azlan Meah Ahmad Meah and the signing was witnessed by Colmar Tropicale chief executive officer Teh Ming Wah.
Teh said it took them six months of planning and another eight months to construct the contraption which cost a total of RM2 million.
"We want to attract more locals and international tourists by creating an unforgettable experience for them," she said adding that a special certification will be made available to them as proof of their participation.
The flying fox consists of four checkpoints and at each point, staff members are available for assistance.
Prior to the start of the event, each participant has to put on safety gear and follow the safety instructions strictly.
To get to the launch point, participants have to walk up the stairs built behind the rock climbing wall.
Once they reach the top platform, they have to go through two canopy walks, one person at a time.
The journey does not stop there as they the have to then climb a tree.
A deck is specially built around the middle of the tree and participants have the option of standing or sitting down.
Those who are not afraid of heights are welcome to stand and enjoy the beautiful scenery while those who are can opt to sit on the deck and not look down.
To participate an individual has to weigh at least, 45kg with a maximum weight of 120kg.
"If the riders weigh less than 45kg, they will have a difficult time reaching the other side," said Teh adding that more than 500 have tried it since it was first opened in 2011.
Aziz who tried this activity for the first time said although he was a bit nervous earlier he was excited about getting chance to experience this.
The fee for the flying fox is RM78 for each person and the park is open from 10am to 6pm.
Other activities such as paint ball, rock climbing, the canopy bridge walk and high rope obstacle course are also available.
The activities at the Adventure Park requires no electricity or motors.
Its design works to create a healthy, environmentally friendly, recreational venue.

配合旅游年‧打造旅游商品创商机
巴生市议会配合推广“2013至2015巴生旅游年”计划，打算於今年底邀廉价酒店（经济型）等旅游业者，一起来创造属於巴生的旅游商品，推动旅游业发展之余，也为双方寻找新商机！

巴生市议员林立选表示，市议会发现，虽然巴生有美食和一些旅游景点包括歷史古蹟等，足以成为吸引游客前来观光消费的卖点；但至今都未有人打造过一个真正属於巴生的永久性售卖手信如明信片、T恤或钥匙圈等。
“有鑑於此，市议会决定在今年底，率先推出一些旅游商品的设计图，然后再推荐给旅游业者，视他们是否欲与市议会合作，共创新商机，增加彼此的收入。”
他说，市议会“锁定”廉价酒店业者为合作伙伴，因为他们可以在营业单位腾出空间，来摆卖这些旅游商品。
与市会携手推展旅游业
他对《大都会》指出，市议会於去年底曾召集区內的旅游业者交流，以商討刺激巴生旅游业的方案；惟当时出席者寥寥无几，让市议会大失所望。
“希望隨著市议会要打造旅游商品的这个消息传开后，能吸引更多的旅游业者採取主动態度，亲自与市议会接洽，携手推展地方上旅游业，共商巴生两天一夜或三天两夜的旅游配套也可。”
取缔非法营业单位
另外，林立选也披露，从今年9月起，巴生市议会將从9月起联合警方、移民局及宗教局等各造，一起前往廉价酒店、按摩院及网咖展开突击行动。”
“因此，非法营业的单位最好能在这之前结束营业或立刻向市议会‘自首’及进行‘漂白’程序。”
他说，根据市议会执照小组所提供的数据，巴生区內目前有约44间廉价酒店，其中35间属合法，9间则没有执照。
他说，虽然数据如此，但他认为真实数字可能多达60间。
