Value for money at Ibis Styles

BUSINESSMEN and tourists who don't want to fork out an exorbitant sum of money to stay in a swanky five-star hotel in town, can now opt to stay in the Ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Cheras hotel.

The three-star premium economy hotel has been offering guests comfortable rooms to stay in at affordable prices since it opened its doors to the public on Oct 1, 2012.

Speaking to Streets recently, Ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur general manager Hubert Low said it was the first premium economy hotel under the Accor Group to be set up in Malaysia.

"The Accor Group manages other hotels as well, including the five-star Sofitel and Pullman chain of hotels, the four-star Novotel hotel, the MGallery boutique hotels, the four-star Mercure and Grand Mercure hotels and the three-star Ibis Styles, Ibis and Ibis Budget hotels.

"Our hotel boasts 156 rooms divided into two categories, the standard deluxe room and the business suite.

"The price for one night in a standard deluxe room generally ranges from RM180+ to RM200+ while the price for a night's stay in a business suite generally ranges from RM260+ to RM280+.

"We have 50 standard deluxe rooms, each with a queen-sized bed and six business suites, with a king-sized bed each.

"We also have 100 twin rooms where two single beds are available in each.

"The hotel has a Streats Bar where guests can unwind and mingle in the lounge and enjoy a variety of drinks.

"The Streats Cafe, located on the upper ground floor of the hotel near the Streats Bar, has been offering guests a variety of a la carte Malaysian hawker and international Western fare daily from 6.30am to 11pm," he said.

Low said the word Streats was a combination of the words streets and treats.

The hotel is also offering barbecue buffet dinner every Friday from 7pm to 10.30pm for only RM58 nett.

"This barbecue buffet is truly value for money. We want families and friends to come here, have a good time and enjoy delicious food such as roast lamb, barbecue chicken, sausages, satay as well as other dishes like fried rice.

"Also, families can bring their kids to our high tea parties that are held every Saturday from 4pm to 7pm.

The high-tea is priced at RM42 nett per person for adults while children between 7 and 12 get a 50 per cent discount.

Lots of fun and games with exciting prizes will be thrown in to keep the children entertained. All children aged 6 and below eat for free,," added Low.

A la carte dishes are offered daily at all other times.

Low said the hotel attracts large groups of tourists from China, Indonesia, Sweden, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore and of course our own locals.

"Each of our hotel guests also gets a complimentary breakfast buffet at Streats Cafe between 6.30am and 10.30am daily.

Walk-in guests on the other hand just have to pay RM26.50 to enjoy a full spread of nasi lemak, chicken rendang, noodles, Chinese porridge, pastries and other dishes.

"Ibis Styles KL Cheras Hotel is located adjacent to the new C180 shopping complex which is a joint business venture between Mitra Land Properties Sdn Bhd and Yap Loong & Sons company.

These two companies have asked the French Accor Group to manage the hotel in this area," he explained.

Don't be surprised to see a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and other interesting outlets located a stone's throw away from the hotel.

The hotel is also located near the AEON Jaya Jusco shopping centre.

The hotel has seven function rooms and more are in the pipeline. "Our meeting rooms are popular with businessmen and we have different packages that come with rooms and those which also come with food.

"The meeting packages are divided into half-day meetings (RM65 nett per pax) and full day meetings (RM85 per pax)," added Low.

Ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Cheras Hotel is perfect if you're not looking for a hotel with a swimming pool or other frills.

To date, there are more than 120 Ibis Styles hotels in 11 countries. The hotel is at Jalan C180/1 Dataran C180, Cheras.
