Welcome 2014 in style

Revellers can look forward to ringing in the new year with a bang in two of the city's most iconic landmarks.

Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib recently announced that City Hall together with Visit KL, Tourism Malaysia and KLCC Properties are organising countdown celebrations, known as the KL New Year Countdown 2014, at Dataran Merdeka and KLCC.

The four-hour events will kick off at 9pm on Dec 31.

At Dataran Merdeka, catch the performances of Zainal Abidin, Amy Search, Jay Jay, Aweera Mojo, Najwa Latif, Def Gab C and more.

The crowd can also join in the fun with a "Joget Lambak with Cultural Dancers" and win prizes in a "Visit KL Guess What" quiz.

There will also be a food bazaar at Dataran Underground. Starting at 3pm, the bazaar offers over 50 varieties of party food such as cupcakes, pizzas and pavlovas with a local twist.

Revellers can also write down their resolutions to be placed on a Resolution Tree@KL City Gallery, with prizes to be won for the best resolutions.

The highlight of the evening is the spectacular countdown before the fireworks display.

At KLCC, the celebrations are aptly themed Fabulous 2014@KLCC with performances by Jaclyn Victor, among others, at the KLCC park.

There will be laser shows, cultural performances and a giant water screen showing the upcoming highlights of Visit Malaysia Year 2014.

"The celebrations will see Kuala Lumpur's largest fireworks display," said KLCC Properties chief executive officer Datuk Hashim Wahir.

Phesal advised the public to use public transport such as the LRT and Monorail which will be extending their services to 2am.

However, those who wish to drive can park their vehicles at Dataran Merdeka Underground, Daya Bumi, Padang Merbok and around Central Market.

To facilitate preparations, Jalan Raja Laut will be closed from 7pm to 1am on Dec 31.

独立广场草坪修复以及排水系统工程， 将让广场更加美观。

吉隆坡独立广场草场改善工程将于新年的首个星期展开，这项工程预计耗资400万令吉，是该广场第三期，也是最后一期的改善工程。

较早时，耗资450万令吉的第一和第二期工程已经完成，工程包括增设3个喷水池和壁画、改善沟渠、人行道、花盆箱、靠近主要旗杆的平台层和苏丹阿都沙末大厦前面的道路整修等。

吉隆坡市长拿督斯里阿末费沙表示，重铺草皮、排水系统的整修工程等将从1月4日开始，预计4月可以完成。

他说，有关改善工程因为年尾进行的各项活动，而展延了7个月，为了不影响工程进度，改善工工程期间，广场将会被围起，公众不得进入。

针对有报道指广场草坪情况糟糕，是因为隆市政厅骑马队造成，市长澄清，除非活动彩排，当局并没有经常让马匹跑到草坪。

阿末费沙也透露，上一次的铺草皮工程是在20年前进行，而这次广场将会铺上不但耐磨损，并适合热带气候的混合草种。

另外，隆市政厅发言人指出，广场的填土也会完全更换，新的土壤拥有充足的养分含量，同时也会铺一层沙，以利排水。

他说，目前的土壤营养耗尽及pH值低，无法再支持新值和草生长，而广场草坪因受重压包括太多人行走和放置重型机械，也造成土壤的空气含量减少。

另外，地下水沟排水故障，灌溉系统也无法充分滋润整个草坪，因此工程将装置崭新的喷水器。

This school holiday, Resorts World Genting (RWG) is delivering a host of sweets and tasty treats during the Cookies, Candies and Cream promotion.

Previously RWG had a Chocoholics and Candylicious promotion.

The cookies and pastries served at the Coffee Terrace are prepared by Genting grand executive pastry chef Alan Yeong Wai Luen.

"We consistently try to serve different types of desserts for our customers.

"Since many of them come here often we continuously strive to provide something different for every meal," he said.

Yeong said that all the cookies and pastries such as the macaroons, glass mousse cake, ais kacang, cendol and snowflakes are made in- house.

The candies and ice cream are from Gelatomio.

The buffet at the Coffee Terrace also has a rotating menu ensuring visitors who dine here often don't get bored with the food.

On top of the upgraded dessert section, the Coffee Terrace also serves Asian and Western dishes ranging from nyonya, local, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Japanese and Western dishes.

Once your craving for sweets has been satiated, take a stroll outside the Genting Grand Hotel where a fabulous light show will commence.

The entire facade of the Genting Grand Hotel will be transformed into a giant projection screen where festive specials will be screened.

The "screen" is as big as a football field and the images are clear and sharp, as the latest projection technology is being used.

The Christmas specials are screened every 20 minutes, accompanied by the group II Divo's Christmas songs.

It is the first of its kind in Malaysia and it is a great opportunity for visitors to experience this show.

For New Year's Eve there will be a countdown special. For Chinese New Year you can expect a touch of Choy San Yeh and there will be a special screening for Valentine's Day.

KL's tallest Christmas tree

The lighting of the tallest Christmas tree in Kuala Lumpur was met with cheers and admiration on a cool night at Suria KLCC recently.

Hours before the lighting up, shoppers had already gathered outside to take pictures in front of the 20-metre high Christmas tree.

The tree is located just outside the mall, facing Lake Symphony.

When the time came for the tree to be lit, over 500 people began the countdown to the lighting of the tree by Suria KLCC chairman Datuk Hashim Wahir.

Thirty thousand environmentally friendly LED lights and hundreds of Christmas baubles made the tree shimmer and sparkle.

The spotlight was on the green giant, which stole the limelight from the towering Petronas Twin Towers.

Spectators were then treated to Christmas carols by the Dithyrambic Singers.

As the tunes of Jingle Bells and We Wish You A Merry Christmas echoed through the night, more tourists and shoppers posed for pictures.

A visitor from Sabah, Clement Wong commented on how nice it was to look at the tree, saying that it was the largest tree he had ever seen.

For American Ron Frisinger, the tree was a sight to behold.

"I have seen taller trees, but this one is certainly beautiful to look at, especially with the Twin Towers behind it," he said.

Meanwhile Hashim said that Suria KLCC is always looking for ways to spread festive cheer among its visitors.

"Christmas is one of those festive seasons that many people find magical and special, so this Christmas we wanted to give our customers something special too.

"By lighting up the tallest tree in the city, we hope it will brighten hearts with some magical moments," he said.

The tree which took five days to complete weighs 13,500kg.

The majestic tree can be viewed by the public at Suria KLCC until Dec 25.

Suria KLCC will also be entertaining visitors with dazzling performances until Dec 26.

Several lucky children will also get to see Santa Claus on stage and receive candy canes.

瓜冷县观光月招游客 古典脚车大匯集



由瓜拉冷岳(Kuala Langat)县议会举办的“古典脚踏车大集会”，拥有许多古典脚踏车泊在现场，让出席者逐一瀏览，非常壮观。

约500辆古典脚车齐聚在万津摩立(Banting Morib)海滨，一批骑乘旧式古典脚车的骑士更在摩立新村展开20公里的骑脚车运动，引起许多人民和旅客围观，场面热闹。

　配合2013瓜拉冷岳县旅游观光月活动的系列活动，瓜冷县议会配合甘榜根登脚车协会举行“古典脚车大集会”，吸引约500名热爱古典脚车的骑士参与，表现积极踊跃。

　参与“古典脚车大集会”有来自全马约12个脚车协会，包括雪州、森美兰、马六甲和霹雳，最年轻的骑士是5岁的小男孩。

“专业”服装引注目

　万津摩立海滨现场共有几辆超过多年歷史的古典脚车，包括世界第二大战后价值1万2000令吉的古典脚车，以及于1912年製成的脚车，吸引不少国內外旅客拍照留念。

　配合古典脚车，不少参与者都穿上“专业”的服装，引人注目，包括日本军人、唐装、英国军人、英国兵士、军警、海军和邮政员等，其中一名参赛者更是一家四口身穿我国国旗参与“古典脚车大集会”。

　主办单位为了讚扬参与“古典脚车大集会”的参与者，也颁发多项奖项，包括最佳古典脚车（5名）、最美的古典脚车（5名）、最奇异的古典脚车（2名）、VIP选择的古典脚车（2名）、最佳服装（5名）、最佳古典服装（5名）、最奇异服装（2名）、最年轻参与骑士和最早报名的组合等。

　出席者包括瓜拉冷岳县议会主席莫哈末阿斯哈和摩立区州议员哈斯曼等。

政府拨款提升摩立海滨

摩立区州议员哈斯曼指出，瓜拉冷岳县议会获州政府拨出10万令吉作为提升摩立海滨用途，同时县议会將爭取更多拨款来提升及修建摩立海滨的基本设施，州政府也將10万令吉的拨款增至16万令吉。

　他说，瓜拉冷岳县议会今年第一次提名摩立海滨公厕参与“全国厕所清洁竞赛”，成为大马10间清洁厕所之一，摩立海滨公厕更上一层楼，被宣佈为“全国最清洁公厕”。

　他说，为了满足旅客的要求，瓜拉冷岳县议会多年已积极提升摩立海滨的基本设施，加上摩立海滨是具备一流的旅游景点条件，因此县议会和州政府都积极发展摩立海滨。

　此外，他说，我国多个州属面对水灾的困扰，庆幸雪州水灾问题受到控制，但也促请人民勿將垃圾丟入排水沟和沟渠，造成沟水无法顺利排出引发水灾。

阿末菲沙：发掘更多活动 吸引游客逗留更久

吉隆坡市长及吉隆坡旅游发展理事会主席拿督斯里阿末菲沙指出，他们要在2014年旅游大马年，在吉隆坡发掘更多活动，以吸引游客，让游客在吉隆坡逗留更长的时间。

　他今日与雪兰莪皇家高尔夫球俱乐部签署合作备忘录后指出，根据他们统计，前来吉隆坡旅游的游客，平均会逗留2.6天，相比起泰国曼谷及印尼耶加达6至8天来说，时间太短。

　他说，在明年旅游大马年估计有2800万旅客前来我国，他们要在吉隆坡打造更多吸引游客的活动，延长游客逗留的时间。

　他说，这次他们与雪兰莪皇家高球俱乐部合作，就是其中一项增加游客的计划。

与商家合作办活动

　“我们还有与一些商家、餐厅合作，举办一些活动吸引游客。”

　他指出，根据当局研究，吉隆坡有许多旅游元素还未充分被发挥，如我国的多元种族文化，这是一个可以更加发挥吸引游客的元素。

　另外，他指出，高尔夫球在目前是標誌性的旅游运动，高球爱好者的游客市场，对吉隆坡来说是一个很有前景的领域。

　“我们还会与其他高球场洽谈合作的可能性。”

　出席者包括吉隆坡旅游发展理事会联合主席端姑依斯甘达、俱乐部经理莫哈末阿兹兰等。

　吉隆坡旅游发展理事会今日与雪兰莪皇家高球俱乐部签署的备忘录，將在明年1月1日生效至12月31日，在合作期间，將允许游客（非会员）在特定时段到俱乐部打球。

中央艺术坊特设的马来西亚文化美食街， 吸引了国内外游客品尝。

创建于1888年的中央艺术坊踏入第125年，配合明年的旅游年，该坊成为吉隆坡市政厅主打为隆市具有地标性的文化遗产建筑之一，以吸引国内外游客到访，促进我国旅游年。

吉隆坡市长拿督斯里阿末费沙指出，吉隆坡共有11个文化遗产建筑，中央艺术坊则是其中之一，为凸显其文化特色，将在不同的佳节展开不同的文化活动，例如哈芝节、农历新年、屠妖节及圣诞节，除了让国内的民众参与，也可借此吸引国外游客，共享其盛。

“政府明年的目标是吸引2800万游客人次，中央艺术坊也成为重要的一环，为此，艺术坊欢迎更多的相关单位加入此推广文化行列，成为合作伙伴。”

配合125周年办美食街

他也说，文化遗产在未来扮演很重要的角色，不但推动经济，更推广文化，让百年遗产更有价值性，因此需要年轻一代支持。

阿末费沙于昨晚为“中央艺术坊125周年纪念庆”主持开幕时，这么指出。

当天的出席嘉宾还包括中央艺术坊的经营公司家胜集团总执行长苏文川、创办人黄严庆以及总监阿扎哈里。

配合此百年周年纪念，中央艺术坊也举行为期4天的“马来西亚文化遗产美食街”，现场共16个美食摊位，都是经过筛选，并被列入文化遗产美食排行榜内的我国美食。

现场美食各有风味，让国外游客食指大动，可一次过尝完我国所有的美食。

苏文川：越古老越值钱 人民应保护文化遗产

苏文川在开幕致词指出，艺术坊从125年前的菜市场，转型为现在的文化艺术坊，成功吸引了国内外游客来到收集各种不同文化的艺术品。

他形容，文化遗产“越古老越值钱”（Old is Gold），艺术品也随着岁月变得更有吸引力，因此他呼吁人民不应只知道其价值所在，更重要的是，要懂得保护独特的文化遗产。

“我相信只要大家继续支持中央艺术坊，我们会推广更多保护及爱护文化遗产意识的活动，让年轻一代的青年明白其价值。”

黄洁冰：包括出版旅游刊物‧2年耗125万宣传雪旅游

掌管雪州旅游、消费人事务及环境的行政议员黄洁冰表示，雪州政府在2012与2013年期间，共耗资125万3千548令吉出版旅游刊物和宣传雪州旅游。

她在回答新古毛州议员李继香的口头提问时说，州政府在2012年拨出4万4千令吉印刷1万分英语版的雪州地图，內容涵盖雪州9个县的旅游景点。

2万令吉管理网站

“当局也在去年耗费23万4千805令吉出版了英语版的《Selangor Breakaway》旅游指南书。以介绍雪州各地的旅游景点及特產，让游客对雪州有深一层的认识。”

她也说，当局在2012与2013年分別花费48万9千令吉与48万5千743令吉，作为杂誌和报章的广告费；州政府也设有面子书和网站。同时运用2万令吉用管理上述网站。

此外，黄洁冰说，从2012年起，州政府已不再出版《S e l a n g o rBreakaway》，並以国语与英语版的旅游册子取代。

她指出，除了州政府外，梳邦再也市议会、瓜雪县议会、乌雪县议会、加影市议会、沙亚南市政厅和巴生市议会各出版旅游册子，透过旅游册子介绍各区的特色与景点。

配合2013至2015年的“巴生旅游年”，巴生市议会将于11月16日正式推介“水上旅游德士”服务，让游客通过游船河认识巴生地标，了解百年皇城的历史！

“游船河”沿途可观赏到巴生多个地标与美景，如建在河岸的巴生皇城回教堂、拥有百年历史的柴埕聚落、巴生新旧哥打桥、古色古香的华人古庙、淳朴的渔村、繁忙的世界级港口、川行的货船及八号桥等。

开埠123周年

巴生市议会副主席益山表示，今年也是巴生开埠123周年纪念，配合州政府正准备全力推动美化巴生河计划，市议会决定推出这项“游船河”活动，增加巴生旅游产品的同时，也希望能一洗巴生河的“垃圾河”污名。

“这项‘水上旅游德士’服务主要是参考砂拉越古晋拉让江的做法。古晋地方政府成功打造出以河流为特色的旅游景点，推广当地的旅游发展。除了古晋，马六甲也已推出类似的‘游船河’旅游产品。”

益山是在市议会邀请媒体参与“水上旅游德士”试跑活动时对记者说，配合这项旅游产品的推介，巴生市议会近年已逐步在巴生河边路展开多项美化工程，包括植树、园艺及开发属于巴生河特色的景点与地标。

他表示，游客将有机会从河上窥探巴生市的地标与人文面貌，“游船河”沿途还可见到翱翔的成群老鹰、栖息在枝桠的白鹭及鱼儿跳跃的景象。

市会与州政府合作 誓除“垃圾河”污名

益山表示，巴生河段向来被指为“垃圾河”，因为巴生刚好处于下游，许多垃圾是从上游，如梳邦再也和莎阿南等地区漂流至巴生。

他说，原本上游与下游之间设有一个垃圾过滤闸门，惟垃圾太多导致过滤闸也断裂，垃圾才会一发不可收拾流入巴生。

“无论如何，巴生市议会与州政府正全力清理巴生河的垃圾，以一洗‘垃圾河’的污名。

“我在此呼吁巴生市民也必须配合政府，一同维护巴生河的清洁，勿把垃圾丢入河内，以免破坏自然生态。”

即日起至下月31日 本地游客折扣50%

巴生市议会将从11月16日起每天下午2时至傍晚6时提供这项服务，并提供50%折扣优惠价给本地游客至今年12月31日。

益山说，市议会在河边路的石头公园备有4艘“水上旅游德士”，专司载送本地和国外游客“游船河”。

整个行程是从石头公园启航至八号桥，然后回程，全程需3至4小时。

“本地游客在至今年底的优惠期内，可享有50%的折扣优惠，即来回船费，成人只需20令吉，孩童7令吉；明年1月2日起，船费恢复为成人40令吉。”

至于外国游客来回船费则一律60令吉。

有意“游船河”者，可于开放时间到石头公园购买船票。

益山也表示，如公众反应良好，市议会未来将考虑提供从石头公园载送游客至巴生港口7A码头的“水上德士”

服务，游客可转搭快艇前往吉胆岛，游览更多的景点。

配合适耕庄人民碾米厂有限公司在本月底为稻米展览馆开幕，马来西亚艺术学院校友会与旅游协会联办“画家‧笔下的适耕庄”活动，号召全国各地的画家前来取景画画，借此为碾米厂打响展览馆名气。

马来西亚艺术学院校友会会长林建发指出，这项活动将要求画家们从适耕庄人文发展的故事着手，以融合环境人文与艺术的作品，来说明适耕庄不断发展的人文历史。

也是从事导游行业的林建发认为，若把融合中国传统的画，展现给人群，将为大家带来不同的意境与触感。

他将在近期内到适耕庄收集50至60年代的照片，供参与者在报名后预先获得这些照片，从中取得灵感，活动当天亦可把历史融合现时的精神面貌，以各种绘画方式逐一呈现出来。

他补充，参与这项活动的首要条件是曾举办个人画展，否则主办单位将不接受报名。

他说，由于这项活动将于本月29至30日举行，所以主办单位需尽早为参与者安排住宿，有意参与活动的画家需在20日前联络林建发016-2595131、巫雪英012-2918939。

黄瑞林：潜能无限 打造适耕庄生态旅游

适耕庄区州议员兼旅游协会会长黄瑞林在出席适耕庄旅游发展协会会议时说，这项“画家‧笔下的适耕庄”活动同时也是配合2014旅游年而推广的一项2天1夜游系列活动。

他说，适耕庄稻米收成丰硕，而且渔业也蓬勃发展。

“此外，这里也盛产各种水果，许多游客更因这里美味的海鲜，以及各种土产慕名而来，证明适耕庄拥有发展生态旅游的无限潜能。”

黄瑞林除了感谢人民碾米厂有限公司为接下来的这个美术节的活动出钱出力，也赞扬碾米厂把他的概念推出，同时协助适耕庄人民完成兴建稻米展览馆的梦想。

风景画带出渔米之乡

美术导师巫雪英指出，这项活动主要是希望画家们能以艺术融合现实及人文历史，把适耕庄的景点画出来。

“此举是为了提供前来的游客在观看现代的稻田之余，还可以回顾适耕庄老一辈的稻农走过的风景画，让所有人了解历史真实的自然界，以及人类社会。”

巫雪英希望能吸引全国各地的画家们参与，并踊跃报名“画家‧笔下的适耕庄”活动。

"The price for one night in a standard deluxe room generally ranges from RM180+ to RM200+ while the price for a night's stay in a business suite generally ranges from RM260+ to RM280+.

"We have 50 standard deluxe rooms, each with a queen-sized bed and six business suites, with a king-sized bed each.

"We also have 100 twin rooms where two single beds are available in each.

"The hotel has a Streats Bar where guests can unwind and mingle in the lounge and enjoy a variety of drinks.

"The Streats Cafe, located on the upper ground floor of the hotel near the Streats Bar, has been offering guests a variety of a la carte Malaysian hawker and international Western fare daily from 6.30am to 11pm," he said.

Low said the word Streats was a combination of the words streets and treats.

The hotel is also offering barbecue buffet dinner every Friday from 7pm to 10.30pm for only RM58 nett.

"This barbecue buffet is truly value for money. We want families and friends to come here, have a good time and enjoy delicious food such as roast lamb, barbecue chicken, sausages, satay as well as other dishes like fried rice.

"Also, families can bring their kids to our high tea parties that are held every Saturday from 4pm to 7pm.

The high-tea is priced at RM42 nett per person for adults while children between 7 and 12 get a 50 per cent discount.

Walk-in guests on the other hand just have to pay RM26.50 to enjoy a full spread of nasi lemak, chicken rendang, noodles, Chinese porridge, pastries and other dishes.

"Ibis Styles KL Cheras Hotel is located adjacent to the new C180 shopping complex which is a joint business venture between Mitra Land Properties Sdn Bhd and Yap Loong & Sons company.

These two companies have asked the French Accor Group to manage the hotel in this area," he explained.

Don't be surprised to see a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and other interesting outlets located a stone's throw away from the hotel.

The hotel is also located near the AEON Jaya Jusco shopping centre.

The hotel has seven function rooms and more are in the pipeline. "Our meeting rooms are popular with businessmen and we have different packages that come with rooms and those which also come with food.

浮罗吉胆同乡联谊会名誉主席拿督王明雄指出，吉胆岛自百年开埠以来都没有设立地標，因此，他已向中国订制9呎X15呎的大螃蟹雕塑作为吉胆岛地標，以促进海岛旅游业。

他於週六晚出席浮罗吉胆同乡联谊会第十四周年晚宴时表示，经过与村委会討论后，他决定捐献大螃蟹雕塑给吉胆岛作为地標，如没意外，安装地標工作预计在11月完成。

他目前也在物色地点来安置雕塑。

他也呼吁雪州政府通过巴生市议会或村委会积极配合，做好准备工作及希望州政府承担安装费用。

有助促进吉胆旅游业

“雕塑运抵吉胆岛后，將有助促进海岛旅游业的吸引力，也为岛民带来一定的好处。”

此外，他也说，许多岛民曾向他投诉，州政府没定时派官员到岛上收地租或办理更新临时地契工作，以致许多岛民在岛上买了屋子后，欲向国能申请安装电供时，因屋子未转换名字，而让新屋子面对种种不便。

他披露，3年地契期限届满后，第四年要申请更新临时地契时，手续费由原有的10令吉，调涨至50令吉，加重岛民的负担，希望州政府能正视此问题。

植物公园次阶段改善工程近竣工 多用途休闲亭明年启用



阿末费沙（中） 在工程建筑师的陪同下巡视休闲亭工程进度， 并高举拇指赞好。

吉隆坡市长拿督斯里阿末费沙指出，改善吉隆坡植物公园（Taman Botani Perdana）第二阶段工程接近尾声，面积约3100平方尺的多用途休闲亭预计明年2月可正式启用。

他指出，该休闲亭是由5根高达12米的柱子支撑着，顶盖是采用玻璃透明式的，使休闲亭整体设计前卫及贴近大自然。目前，工程已完成了70%，预计明年1月竣工及2月启用。

他表示满意该工程承包商的表现，对方可以依时完成每一期的工程，因此相信休闲亭可如期竣工。

“休闲亭的建筑设计概念是非常贴近植物公园大自然的环境，以黄色为主，以呈现大自然色彩，同时也保护周遭的花草树木。”

组装块节点系统推介礼

阿末费沙今日推介吉隆坡植物公园多用途亭的组装“块节点系统”（Block NodesSystem）时这样说。

他也说，该多用途休闲亭是供公众举办各项活动，如生日派对、婚礼或烧烤聚会地点，无须付租金，完全免费。

除此之外，他也表示，该休闲亭的建筑结构更采用了“块节点系统”（Block NodesSystem）的组装技术，是全隆首个建筑物采用，以有力支撑沉重的玻璃顶篷。

同时，他透露，隆市政厅也正在考虑兴建俱乐部会所（clubhouse），作为活动礼堂提供给公众使用。

第二阶段工程除了兴建多用途休闲亭以外，也包括改善船屋、儿童游乐园设施以及鹿园等等，该工程约耗资2400万令吉。

定期维修路灯 守卫驻守大门 加强植物园保安

阿末费沙也说，植物公园开始加强保安系统，并已和执法单位商讨，同时也得到警方的配合，以确保公园的安全，其中包括安排守卫驻守公园大门及确保定期维修公园内的路灯。

“许多公众都在清晨到来晨运，因此我们必须确保灯光明亮，街灯必须运作至早晨。此外，我们也将加强巡逻，如有需要，也将安装闭路电视。”

“我们将打造植物公园成为旅客必到的观光旅游胜地，以效仿先进国的都市休闲公园迈进！”

改善工程耗资3500万

吉隆坡市政厅根据内阁在2009年9月底通过，要改善植物公园设施后，从去年3月开始着手规划改善公园工程。

整个改善工程需花费3500万令吉，并把改善工程分为3个阶段，目前已完成首阶段工程。

预计第2及第3阶段工程需费时5年完成，包括种植1275棵各品种树及花草，更增设各项休闲设施，注入更多绿化元素。

吉隆坡植物公园（前称：湖滨公园）拥有122年历史，自2010年开始进行为期5年的改造工程，首阶段工程已在2010年12月结束（为期半年），2011年6月进入第二阶段（为期3年，从2011年至2013年），第三阶段为期2年从2014年开始至2015年结束，目的将这个公园打造成达到世界水准的植物园。

隆市厅城市果园开放参观

吉隆坡市政厅宣布，本月1日起将正式开放位于毗邻旧国家王宫以及柏拉美路（Jalan Bellamy）一带的城市果园（Taman Dusun Bandar）予公众参观。

占地19亩的公园是一个公开予民众的公共场所，公园内除了有果园之外，也有适合各年龄层的娱乐设施。

城市果园美其名就是我国首个设立在都市的果园，当中有许多当地多元化的水果，也有在我国罕见的果种。

果园内种植的本地果树包括芒果树、红毛丹树、榴梿树、木瓜树、香蕉树、番石榴及水蓊等等。

公园里的基本设施有人行道（包括残障人士）、公共厕所、休闲亭、餐馆、食物摊子、祈祷室、儿童游乐场、蓄水池以及停车场（40辆汽车/4辆巴士）。

果园的开放时间为上午9时至旁晚5时，无需收费。

THE 1Malaysia Lantern Tourism Festival is set to take place from Sept 14 to 19 with a line up of interesting cultural programmes and performances for the whole family.

The highlight of the festive will be the lantern parade, at 8.30pm on Sept 14.

The starting point is at the Petaling Street archway in Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. The procession will then proceed to Jalan Sultan, Jalan Hang Lekir and Jalan Petaling before going back to Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock to come to a stop at the entrance of Central Market.

Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall president Datuk Liew Kon Seng said the 1Malaysia Lantern Tourism Festival 2013 flyers and pamphlets were redeemable for free lanterns at a redemption counter at the Petaling Street archway at 7.30pm, right before the start of the parade.

"It will be on a first-come, first-served basis as there are only 1,000 free lanterns to be given out on that day," said Liew.

He said the event flyers and pamphlets were being mass distributed at convenience stores, hotels and tourism centres and spots for maximum exposure.

At Central Market, there will also be cultural performances including lion and dragon dances, singing and dance performances, acrobatic and mask changing performances until 11pm.

The official launch is expected to take place around 9.30pm, after the lantern parade.

About 50 handmade giant lanterns, 30 of which are from Taiwan, will be on display from Sept 15 to 19, from 7pm to 10pm.

The giants lanterns are provided by Taiwan Visitors Association (Kuala Lumpur), Fo Guang Shan Malaysia and Malaysia Lantern Art Association.

Cultural dance performances, a Chinese martial arts equipment exhibition, mini lantern parade and lantern making workshop will also be held throughout the festival.

The fifth lantern festival is organised by the Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall in collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Ministry, Visit Malaysia Year 2014, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Central Market, City Hall, Kuala Lumpur Hawkers and Petty Traders Association, Fo Guan Shan Malaysia, Malaysia Lantern Art Association, Universiti Putra Malaysia Zhong Hua Arts and Cultural Association, and Taiwan Visitors Association (Kuala Lumpur).

长途巴士业者要求车票调涨30%未有定案又遇柴油涨价，陆路公共交通委员会（SPAD）宣布，考虑到燃油涨价营运成本将提高，允许长途巴士继续征收10%的附加费，直到当局宣布新收费为止。

附加费原订今天停收

长途巴士业者获准在开斋节期间征收10%的附加费措施，原定于明天结束。该委员会这项宣布，形同巴士车资变相涨价。

泛马巴士业者公会是在政府宣布燃油涨价后，致函陆路公共交通委员会要求延长征收10%附加费措施。

该委员会之前是在6月中旬宣布，同意让巴士业者在开斋节期间收取长途快车票10%附加费，有效期限从7月8日至9月8日为止，包括全部现有的长途快车班次及因应佳节需求而推出的额外班车。

柴油上一次调涨零售价，是2010年12月4日。政府是在本月3日调涨RON95汽油和柴油每公升零售价20仙，使RON95每公升售价涨为2令吉10仙，而柴油是2令吉。

调涨车票年底决定

这也是近年来，政府首次因为柴油价格上涨，允许长途巴士业者延长原本只限佳节期间征收车票附加费的措施。

泛马巴士业者协会（PMBOA）原本是要求长途快车票涨价30%，不过陆路公共交通委员会拒绝，只允许在佳节期间给予两个月征收10%附加费，而调涨车票事宜将在年底有决定。

陆路公共交通委员会今日发文告说，尽管政府调涨燃油费，但长途巴士车票价格目前不会涨价，当局将会宣布新收费。 该会表明，研究长途巴士收费的工作处于最后阶段，该委员会确保即将宣布的新收费不会对人民和业者构成负担。

龙溪小镇【Dengkil】美食佳，乡味浓，近年来当地餐饮业者超过50%的生意额靠外来食客带动与发展。

成为食客找吃天堂

龙溪靠近布城与赛城，加上近几年来，道路的改善，以致距离不再是问题，当地小镇风味美食，如海南包、招牌面、招牌虾、招牌鱼及河虾等，都是老饕最爱，成为食客找吃的天堂。

尤其是布城与赛城的华裔上班族或学生，因当地没有中餐馆，特在下班时段，与同事驱车到当地用餐，以致午休时段，可见各饭店、茶室，坐满了不少穿戴整齐的上班族。

各茶室人潮拥挤

甚至也有印裔特到该村用餐，各大茶室或饭店人潮拥挤，店家在厨房与大厅忙进忙出。

店前或邻近，也停泊了不少轿车。

不少受访业者指出，近几年来，随着布城与赛城大事发展，带动了当地餐饮业者，目前村内餐饮业生意在午休时段，全靠外来食客带动。

他们强调，有超过50至70%的生意额都靠外来客带动，尤其是周未、日或公假，有更多远处食客带同亲友到来享美食，所以也会特别多准备食材。

Making way for the new Twentieth Century Fox Theme Park scheduled for 2016, the Genting Outdoor Theme Park will be closing its doors from Sunday for two years.

While the Outdoor Theme Park is closed, all rides and attractions at the First World Indoor Theme Park will remain open.

To commemorate the occasion and to also celebrate the National Day, there will be activities such as cheerleading and dance performances from 10pm. Entrance is free from 7pm to midnight on Sunday. Pay per ride is also available from 7pm for customers to enjoy the rides one more time before its closure.

As the Genting Outdoor Theme Park will be closed, there will not be any fireworks display that evening.

The Adventure Park at Colmar Tropicale has the longest flying fox line in Southeast Asia at 530 metres.

IF you are a thrill-seeker, make your way to the Adventure Park at Colmar Tropicale and try out their longest flying fox single zip-line in Southeast Asia.

With a length of 530 metres, the Adventure Park made an entry into the Malaysia Book of Records recently.

Malaysia Book of Records chief executive officer Aziz Hamdan presented the certificate to Berjaya Hills Bhd executive director Datuk Azlan Meah Ahmad Meah and the signing was witnessed by Colmar Tropicale chief executive officer Teh Ming Wah.

Teh said it took them six months of planning and another eight months to construct the contraption which cost a total of RM2 million.

"We want to attract more locals and international tourists by creating an unforgettable experience for them," she said adding that a special certification will be made available to them as proof of their participation.

The flying fox consists of four checkpoints and at each point, staff members are available for assistance.

Prior to the start of the event, each participant has to put on safety gear and follow the safety instructions strictly.

To get to the launch point, participants have to walk up the stairs built behind the rock climbing wall.

Once they reach the top platform, they have to go through two canopy walks, one person at a time.

The journey does not stop there as they the have to then climb a tree.

A deck is specially built around the middle of the tree and participants have the option of standing or sitting down.

Those who are not afraid of heights are welcome to stand and enjoy the beautiful scenery while those who are can opt to sit on the deck and not look down.

To participate an individual has to weigh at least, 45kg with a maximum weight of 120kg.

"If the riders weigh less than 45kg, they will have a difficult time reaching the other side," said Teh adding that more than 500 have tried it since it was first opened in 2011.

Aziz who tried this activity for the first time said although he was a bit nervous earlier he was excited about getting chance to experience this.

The fee for the flying fox is RM78 for each person and the park is open from 10am to 6pm.

Other activities such as paint ball, rock climbing, the canopy bridge walk and high rope obstacle course are also available.

The activities at the Adventure Park requires no electricity or motors.

Its design works to create a healthy, environmentally friendly, recreational venue.
