Talks on stops along KL-Singapore High Speed Rail still ongoing

Talks to finalise the number of intermediate stops for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail are still on-going, said MyHSR Corp Sdn Bhd Chairman Dr Ali Hamsa on Thursday (Apr 14).

He said the consideration for the intermediate stops would take into account the main feature of the project itself - rail express services linking Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in 90 minutes.

"It is still in the final stage of discussion," said Ali, who is also Chief Secretary to the Government, when asked if the project would involve five to six cities along the route as reported.

Ali said this to reporters after the prize-giving ceremony of MyHSR Corporate Logo Design Competition on Thursday.

It was reported that the project would connect five intermediate stops in Malaysia to Singapore namely, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat and Nusa Jaya.

Ali said the conclusion on the alignment of the project would be known in July.

This follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's announcement that the memorandum of understanding between Malaysia and Singapore on the project would be signed by the middle of this year, he said.

On the Request for Information (FRI) exercise for the project, Ali said, to-date they had received 189 entries, and the FRI inputs would be used in their negotiation with Singapore.

He said the basis for the inputs would be on major contributions towards commercial and technical aspects.

MyHSR Corp is a wholly-owned special-purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Finance that was set up to ensure the successful delivery of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail project.

MoU for KL-Singapore High Speed Rail to be signed mid-2016: Najib

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the High Speed Rail linking Kuala Lumpur and Singapore will be signed in the middle of this year, Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak announced on Tuesday (Apr 12).

He was speaking at the Invest Malaysia Kuala Lumpur conference, held at the Shangri-La Hotel in KL on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A spokesperson from Singapore's Ministry of Transport said both countries are working towards signing an MoU at the next Leaders’ Retreat, which will be held in Malaysia.

When completed, commuters on the High Speed Rail are expected to complete their journey between Singapore and KL in 90 minutes. Currently, it takes up to eight hours by train and about five hours by express bus to travel between the two cities. The 315km journey by road takes close to four hours, while flights take 45 minutes, excluding airport check-in and transfers to the city.

In May last year, it was announced that the terminus for the Singapore side of the project will be built on the site occupied by Jurong Country Club. Work is expected to start in 2017 and completed by 2022, according to the Malay Mail Online.

The project was first announced in a joint statement by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mr Najib during the Singapore-Malaysia Leaders' Retreat in 2013.

美化阿罗街沙尘滚滚

美化阿罗街沙尘滚滚‧商贩忧封路人潮大减

搁置已久的阿罗街提升及美化计划终于展开,惟商贩们担心工程期间沙尘滚滚,犹如为食物添加“胡椒粉”,更担心工程封路导致人潮大锐减!

据了解,吉隆坡市政局斥资1千200万令吉进行的阿罗街提升及美化工程经于3月28日展开,将分阶段进行及封路,以每5间店铺为一个阶段,业者必须休业2个星期以方便工程进行,预计整个工程将耗时18个月。

《大都会》社区报今早巡访吉隆坡闻名的“美食天堂”阿罗街时,发现工程陆续进行,其中部分店铺的地砖已经完成,同时也正在进行更换水管工作。

小贩无奈休业2周

小贩们均对于即将休业2个星期,以方便进行工程感到无奈。他们认为,生意额肯定大受影响,所谓手停口停,还要支付员工薪水及摊位租金,加重他们的负担。

他们表示,在工程进行期间做生意会面对沙尘飞舞的问题,更有顾客投诉指犹如为食物加料,添加了“胡椒粉”,让顾客宁可选择坐在店内而不坐在五脚基的餐桌上。

行人走道更宽敞

小贩指出,如今行情惨淡,再加上工程施工封路,而且还要休业进行工程,担心加剧影响他们的生意,同时也担心美化后的生意大不如前。

也有部分受访的小贩对于该提升及美化工程感到欢迎,且对已经完工的店铺工程感到满意,惟令小贩费解的是,为何不是两排店铺同时进行,而是先完成一排店铺后,再轮到另一排店,这会导致将分两次封路,造成不便。

当地居民则说,以已完工的店铺看来,设有石灰墙区隔行人走道,相较以往狭窄的走道,如今的空间更宽敞,让居民出入上下楼梯时更为方便。

无论如何,商贩及居民也希望工程尽快完成,期待让整个阿罗街焕然一新,吸引更多游客,不负“美食天堂”的称誉。

明邀商贩居民出席汇报会

《大都会》社区报也温馨提醒商贩及居民,出席于4月12日(星期二)在阿罗街尾举办的提升及美化计划汇报会,以更了解该计划进展。

希望尽快完工
马先生(63岁,居民)

“我在这里居住了逾40年,这里毕竟是旅游区,所以有固定的人潮。虽然工程期间封路为交通带来不方便,但这也只是暂时性。

我希望工程尽快完成,让阿罗街焕然一新。

我觉得当局提升部分店铺后,环境更美观及方便,尤其是走廊设立石灰墙,让居民上下楼梯时空间变得宽敞,相较于以往的空间窄小,如今我们出入更为方便。 ”

封路流失顾客
廖锦伦(41岁,面档小贩)

“工程期间我们被逼休业两个星期,对我们来说肯定有所损失,所谓手停口停,但员工的薪水、摊位租金等都要照付。

我是做上班族及本地人生意为多,曾有顾客告诉我,他们觉得封路麻烦而不要驶入阿罗街,而且也面对泊车问题,顾客群有所流失。

也有顾客投诉指,工程进行时食用面食,如同在面里加入‘胡椒粉’。沙尘滚滚导​​致我们生意难做,而且如今天气炎热,原本较多顾客会选择坐在五脚基的餐桌上,如今都选择坐在店内,以避开沙尘。 ”

盼带来新面貌

店铺工程完善

“阿罗街提升及美化计划提出了好几年,如今终于动工了,相信在完工后会吸引更多游客前来。当局是分阶段每5间店铺展开工程,我也发现已经竣工的店铺工程相当完善,店内铺上统一的地砖,再以石灰墙区隔行人道,会更方便居民行走。

惟我认为,阿罗街最不方便的是交通问题,若日后工程完工后,封锁整条路段,将导致许多不熟悉这区的外地人找不到路,因此建议可封锁半段路,不要整条路封死。 ”

灰尘吓跑食客

“我在这里营业了20年,担心在工程进行期间会有很多灰尘、环境肮脏导致​​顾客不敢上门。

为了避免人口外流情况加剧,瓜雪县议会协同各单位全面打造沙沙兰【Sasaran】生态旅游及艺术氛围,加强小乡镇淳朴特色,务必让沙沙兰从平实中崛起!

 领养沙沙兰的瓜雪县议员林耀明受访时指出,沙沙兰是个小乡镇,目前有3000多人口,但因乡镇发展有限,工作机会不多,以致人口外流情况越来越严重。

 “这是我们一直正视的问题,现今的沙沙兰一般都是自雇者或从事渔业者居多,其余均是外来者,土生土长的村民已出去大城市发展。”

 他说,为了避免乡镇人口外流情况越来越严重,瓜雪县议会及雪州政府近几年积极寻找蕴藏在乡镇内的发展潜能,让沙沙兰人口回流。

 “经过我们多番考察,认为艺术及生态旅游是最能让沙沙兰发扬光大,因此这几年均在这两方面不断努力。”

他指出,目前,沙沙兰最广为人知就是艺术,傻傻然艺术协会自2008年起,每3年举行一次大型国际艺术节,至今已举办3届,获许多海内外艺术家热烈响应,足以看出沙沙兰具有潜能发展为艺术展示区。 ”

将兴建艺术公园

 他说,在此优渥条件下,雪州行政议员欧阳捍华去年允诺会在沙沙兰兴建全雪州第一个艺术公园,让沙沙兰的艺术氛围越加浓厚。

 “瓜雪县议会也议决拨出1.3亩的地段供兴建艺术公园,现在有关的计划还在进行中,我相信落实后,就可全面为沙沙兰注入更多艺术元素。”

 他指出,现在沙沙兰内共有9个壁画及各种装置艺术,是热爱艺术人士流连的好去处。

林耀明:需各单位配合

林耀明指出,要全面推广沙沙兰的生态旅游,需要各单位配合,包括雪州旅游局及村民合作。

 “现在沙沙兰的生态旅游还在萌芽阶段,大部分人都是半日游,而且没有民宿,十分不方便。”

 他说,该区基建也是问题,沙沙兰目前还未​​有设备完善的码头投入服务,只有2艘渔船前往“黑沙滩”,且只能承载7至10人。

 “这些问题都有待解决,希望中央政府旅游部可跟雪州政府、瓜雪县议会合作,提供更多发展资金。”

 他强调,唯有不断发展,才能发掘更多就业机会,让沙沙兰人口回流。

神秘沙滩1个月出现6次

林耀明指出,生态旅游方面,有渔民发现位于沙沙兰不远处有个隐藏性的神秘沙滩,景色优美、贝壳类繁多,是热爱生态旅游者的好去处。

“这沙滩如200个足球场般大,约1个月只会出现6次,即农历十四、十五、十六及农历三十、初一、初二,这段期间适逢海水退潮,才会看到沙滩。”

 他说,这沙滩现在还未有正式名字,一般渔民会称之为“黑沙滩”或“踏浪沙滩”。

 “一般人不会发现这景点,因为大渔船不能抵达沙滩,只能乘搭小快艇、舢板,然后在搁浅处上岸。”

摄影及生态旅游好去处

 他说,有关沙滩还未受污染,很天然独特,海连天、天连地的景色,搭配着丰富的海产资源及海鸟觅食的景观,绝对是热爱摄影及生态旅游发烧友的好去处。

 为了进一步推广沙沙兰生态旅游,林耀明盛邀适耕庄州议员黄瑞林及瓜雪县议会主席诺莱妮协同县议员一起前往“黑沙滩”进行考察。

 林耀明说,生态旅游来说,相信黄瑞林是当中的翘楚,他成功将适耕庄打造成全雪州数一数二的生态旅游区,所以找黄瑞林前往考察再适合不过。

 他指出,黄瑞林也对有关沙滩的独特景点深表赞叹,提醒不可破坏该生态环境,造成环境污染。

KLIA aerotrains back in service

KLIA aerotrains back in service



The aerotrain service at the KL International Airport (KLIA) is now operational after both trains were halted on Friday night due to urgent corrective maintenance.

“We would like to share that both of the aerotrains in KLIA are operating as per normal. However, 1 train is currently undergoing the daily routine maintenance as per schedule,” said Malaysia Airports in a Twitter post on Saturday morning.

The aerotrain service at KLIA was halted Friday night.

“Dear passengers, as of 2227hrs, we regret to inform that both our aerotrains are now withdrawn for urgent corrective maintenance,” tweeted Malaysia Airports.

The aerotrain is an automated people mover that transports passengers between the main terminal building and a satellite building.

Malaysia Airports said buses had been deployed to ferry passengers between the main terminal and satellite building during the halt in service.
