Temporary terminal in Bukit Jalil closed

BUSES have stopped using the Bukit Jalil temporary terminal since the Puduraya bus terminal started operations on Saturday.

The temporary ticket counters and food stalls which were set up at the Bukit Jalil terminal were also found to be empty.

Workers have started dismantling the ticket counters and food stalls.

A food stall operator, who only wanted to be known as Ang, said traders did not move out on April 15 although it was the last day of operations because there were too many of them moving.

“Yesterday, it was too crowded as many of the stall owners and bus operators were moving out. That is why some of us are still here to collect our belongings,” said Ang.
Ceased operations: The temporary ticket counters are empty as the bus operators have relocated to Puduraya.

There were also a banner stating that the terminal has ceased operations.

However, there was also some confusion because there were still some passengers who went to the terminal to buy tickets thinking that the counters were still operating only to be told by the security guards that the bus operators have relocated to Puduraya or Bandar Tasik Selatan.

Wan Yusof Mail, 23, who was there to buy tickets to Cameron Highlands with his friends, said he was not aware of the relocation.

“We heard about it but we were not sure. I also live and work in this area. When I passed by the terminal yesterday it was still operating and there were still a lot of people which is why we came today thinking the counters will be still open,” he said.

Roger Lee, 25, who was also there to buy his ticket to Teluk Intan, said he was confused because there was not much information telling people that the temporary terminal had relocated to Puduraya.

“I did not hear about the relocation. Maybe those who travel frequently would know. Even the taxi driver who took me here thought the terminal was still in operation,” he said.

A tourist from Ireland, Louise Hancock, also travelled to the terminal by taxi only to be told that she had to go to Puduraya.

“I checked on the Internet yesterday and it said that this was the place to buy tickets. But now they say that I have to go to another terminal,” she said.

Buses were operating in the temporary terminal since the Puduraya terminal was closed in April last year for renovation costing RM52.7mil.

The upgrading project was supposed to be completed in September, but was delayed due to additional work at the base of the building.
